There's been a lot of warnings about bedbugs here recently, so I'm trying to cut down on my thrift store shopping. Anyway, this Sindy desk I found last week didn't really have anywhere for creepy-crawlies to hide (to be on the safe side I put it in the freezer a few days anyway).
Disassembling and reassembling was pretty easy and didn't require much force.
Art desk! Slightly yellowed on one side, but in perfect working order otherwise. Did I mention how much I love art supplies for dolls?
Don't ask me why Raquelle signed her painting "Sindy". Forgery, perhaps?
(Oh and I bought a bunch of Monsters too on sale, but that's a post for another day.)
Great find! She looks so natural sitting there!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely desk and in very good condition. I wouldn't have thought that bedbugs would be a problem with a plastic item like that (but you're right - it's always better to be safe than sorry).
ReplyDeleteLOL @Raquelle signing her painting, "Sindy."
ReplyDeleteI have some doll art supplies - they are fun accessories, I agree. I found them in the Mattel Generation Girl 1st Lara and in the Lanard I-Girl Paris (I think the 1st, the basic one).
And most important - congratulations on that Sindy desk. I don't think that the desk sold here in the U.S. Don't recall seeing it in our - the U.S. - Sindy booklet.
D7ana, I don't have any Sindy catalogs or anything, but I'm not sure that I've ever seen it before, which makes me think it probably never did sell here. It's a great find!
ReplyDeleteA Pinterest pinner pinned your desk. I have not seen it anywhere else.
DeleteP.S. There is a Sindy Doll Museum, but they don't gave a search function.
Again, congrats on that find ;-D!
D7ana, that's a nice desk, although it seems to be different from the one I have.. But I did find a listing on ebay that looks exactly like mine! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-SINDY-1991-DESK-AND-CHAIR-FURNITURE-MIB-MINT-BOX-VERY-RARE-/251435832105?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a8abe5329 Quite a bit more than I paid for it, but you get a lamp and a tiny '80s computer too.
