YES, I am excited about the new Barbie body types, and particularly the plus-size one. Very excited indeed.
Now if we could just get some articulation that'd be lovely, but I guess we have to prove we'll buy them first or something. OK Mattel, I'm in, but I can't do much wallet voting until you see fit to start selling these in Sweden - which should happen, oh, any quarter now?
I agree we have to support this first wave, even with the flaws. Even if they don't become parts of the storylines, they would still be good to add to any collection, especially if they don't succeed. They will be history making.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading about how poorly the new articulated Silkstone doll is going over, I've decided maybe Mattel taking its time to create articulated bodies for these new dolls might be a good thing.
ReplyDelete@Vanessa I'm really curious to see how well they actually sell. I feel like maybe not everyone who has criticized Barbie's figure will automatically love these, but I hope so.
ReplyDelete@Barb the Evil Genius I haven't been following what's happening with Silkstone, but yeah I definitely prefer them taking all the time they need.
Hello! Thanks for visiting and commenting on my barbie blog. I just know your blog and I find it very interesting, so I will visit you frequently. I am also anxious to see the new dolls. Hugs!

Hi, and thanks! I don't write here very often anymore, but feel free to drop by anyway.
DeleteAny quarter? Mowahahahhaahaaa Yah. Try, eh, any year? "My" Norwegian connection didn't even know if they would bother taking the dolls to their store. *bah*
ReplyDeleteNow, that's not fair - it's only been, what, ten months since they were announced? :D Of course, the silver lining is, if they release the articulated versions tomorrow we won't have already spent our allowance on the unarticulated ones.
